You find the internship, we provide the units. Internships provide critical "real-world" experience for our students, preparing them for successful careers in Natural Resources Management & Environmental Sciences. An internship can be a volunteer or employed position. Talk to a peer or faculty advisor soon about internship opportunities. Don't forget to watch your email for employment opportunities you may use to research the possibilities.
Administration of Internships (any catalog)
- Student is responsible for securing internship.
- Internships must be completed in same Quarter in which student has registered.
- Enrollment for the Internship course units is done through the NRES Internship Coordinator.
- To enroll for an internship::
- Read the Internship Agreement. Complete the NRES Internship Agreement form (page 5after reading the guidelines - filled out and signed by the student and supervisor.
- Complete the Cal Poly Release of Liability signed by the student
- Complete the Site Self-Assessment and Student Acknowledgment of Risks – both the student and the supervisor must sign.
Send the completed forms to the internship coordinator.
The internship credit is based on total hours in a 10-week term. You enroll in the number of units at the start of the term. The formula is 1 unit credit for each 30 hours worked in the 10 weeks.
