About Dr. Rogers
Dr. Rogers received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from San Jose State University in Psychology and Sociology respectively, and her Ph.D. from Bowling Green State University in Sociology with minors in Women’s Studies and Social Psychology. She is completing her M.S. in Forestry at Cal Poly in 2020 studying Environmental Management. Since 2015 she has worked as a consultant with graduate students and faculty on their research agendas in a wide variety of disciplines. Prior to coming to Cal Poly, she was Chair of the Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice at Greensboro College.
Dr. Rogers’ current interests include how and why people engage in pro-social environmental behaviors, and more importantly, why they don’t! She is interested in how social hierarchies impact eco-justice and environmental policy including food access, sustainable agriculture, and policy decisions. Additionally, she is examining how practice and policies around human activities are linked to ecosystem changes and climate change. Her goal in teaching is to have students experience “Ah-ha!” moments where they make connections to how their lives and choices are connected to broader social systems and encourages students to be lifelong learners.
