College Based Fees
College Based Fees (CBF) were initiated by students to improve their quality of education and time to graduation. College Based Fees are included in tuition costs and allocations to each department are based on enrollment numbers. The department has established a College Based Fee committee represented by students and faculty that meets regularly throughout the academic year to:
- discuss needs for their respective program areas;
- develop/recommend an expenditure plan to the Department Head;
- provide oversight on how expenditures are occurring.
Currently 75% of the NRES CBF dollars are spent on part-time lecturers, teaching and student assistants primarily for the purpose of offering additional sections of major courses. The remainder is used for a variety of purposes including costs of hosting candidates for faculty position openings, sending students to professional meetings, and lab equipment maintenance and replacement.
NRES CBF Committee membership: Dr. Chip Appel, Interim Dept. Head, Lisa Wallravin, Craig Stubler, Jeff Reimer, and NRES Club Officers.
